In January 2009, myself and good friend Gary Stokes, embarked on a mission to film and photograph Pygmy blue whales off Sri Lanka. For 12 days we headed out into the Indian Ocean in all conditions, after searching for several days we managed to enter the water only to find out that the visibility was less than 3 meters due the plankton blooms in the area. Whale activity increased for the next three days then just stopped. Day 11 we finally got the first real experience with the whales.
